Actee computer simulation.
At the company PDiVizija and under the brand Change2Value, we strive to provide the best possible experience. Therefore, during workshops and by agreement with the client, we use the globally recognized Danish platform Actee, which allows computer simulations on the topic of change management.
The Actee platform is used worldwide by companies such as Knauf Insulation, L'oreal, Deutsche Telekom, Telenor, Japan Tobacco International, and others.
Program details
Games last from 2 hours to a whole day - depending on the topic.
The computer simulation consists of three connected sections:
1. Setup of the Framework and Presentation of the Scenario:
Participants get to know the rough basics of change management and the ADKAR individual/personal change model, which will help them play the game. The participants then learn how to handle the platform and become familiar with the game scenario. The lecturer presents:
- the change that the participants will face,
- characters appearing in the game and
- a list of actions that participants can choose from.
2. Computer simulation:
The participants divided in groups face the change given to them by the game. After each played chapter, all groups gather in the middle of the room, present their progress, and discuss what they have achieved with the instructor. In this part, dialogue is encouraged, as well as sharing about the various options and conclusions of the participants. It is also encouraged to connect the findings of the participants with their real-life examples.
3. Final Results, Summary, and Findings:
After the game is over, all groups present their achievements and summarize their findings. This is followed by a discussion between the participants and the instructor about the identified good practices and challenges. Participants connect what they have learned with real examples from the business environment. Dialogue between participants is also encouraged. The final findings are collected, which the participants receive in the form of a document as a handout after the workshop.
The game
The game consists of:- "Game Boards". This is the circle around which characters and change will move.
- Characters. These are figurines, as in ‘’Man Don't Get Angry,’’ except that each figurine has specific characteristics, a position in the organization and a relationship to the change we are simulating. The Actee platform allows us to get to know the characters well through descriptions, even before the game starts. During the game, every single character shares their opinion or feeling about the player's action at every move.
- A boat. In English, we know the expression "onboard", which means that someone agrees with e.g. projects and helps realize them. Therefore, in the game, the little boat represents the point where the project or change according to our plans and activities is located.
The goal of the game
The goal of the game is to get all the characters "onboard", i.e. on the boat, and thus achieve that they follow our plans and activities on the way to the target state of change. How to play?
The game consists of multiple chapters. Chapters can logically follow through one project or change, or each chapter can present its own challenge for players (depending on the chosen game). In each chapter, the game sets the position of the token and the characters' positions, as well as their current attitude towards the change. The player's task is to choose, among the selected decisions offered by the chapter in the game, the one or ones that they believe will bring the characters on the board closer to boarding the token as much as possible.Who is the program intended for?
